Bye Bye Army

Yes..finally, I am posted to Mindef Reserve. Feelings are mixed.. I will miss my unit, all the brotherhood and comradeship but yet also glad that army is finally over (few more days to end Mar). I know I will enjoy my new found freedom. No more manning and confining in camp, free to go overseas for trip without notification. But somehow, I am quite taken aback.

On hindsight, it's two and a half years of my active days and 10 cycles of reservice. So what did I get?

I believe it's committment to the nation. Not that I am pro PAP but I do believe in unity, in One Singapore, One Nation and One People. We have come so far from one of the smallest country in the world to one that has a significant influence to the world. I also went to the army museum in today's morning and heard the speech by Lee Kuan Yew when he passed the National Service Bill. Kind of retrospective but also began to understand the situation at that point of time.

Singapore was defenceless and look so easy to makan. A deterrent force was needed but at that point of time, they only managed to recruit 2000 full time soldiers. So it was necessary to implement that bill.

Anyway I hope all young man in Singapore would be ready to take up that kind of committment to the nation..haha now tht i am over i can say that :p

But I believe that it's necessary. So gambatei my male students and my boys ;)

Oh...they also gave me this.. quite an elegant watch and sourvenir...even have my name crafted at the back of the watch!!
